Shinako Imaizumi (professor of Faculty of Law and Letters, Ehime University)

Born in Hyogo, Shinako graduated from Kobe College and went on to Graduate School of Language and Culture, Osaka University. During her study at Doctorate Course, she also studied at the University of Manchester in England, and got an M.A. (Linguistics) in 1999. Back to Japan, she got a Ph.D. (Language and Culture) in 2001. In 2002, Shinako started working as a lecturer at Ehime University, since when she has been exploring the wonders of language with her students, as well as working as an interpreter at various international conferences, symposiums and many other events. Also as a translator specializing in lyrics of pop songs and musicals, she has been working at Takarazuka Revue Company since 2009. In 2015, Shinako became a professor and also started her career as a radio presenter at Nankai Broadcasting. With her colleagues, she has published several English textbooks for university students: “Let's Speak English with SNOOPY!” (Eihosha in 2004) and “Cultural Crossroads-New Zealand” (Eihosha in 2020). The motto that Shinako and her students treasure is “Language is alive!”
